Spring is here - and October brings a full calendar of community events, opportunities, and updates. Join Yass Valley Council for some great activities across the Yass Valley this Spring:

School Holiday Program

Spring School Holiday Program is on at the Yass Valley Library until Friday 9th October. We've got a great range of fun and creative activities for all ages including a Family Movie Session on Wednesday 8th October (hint: the loyalest of cops), plus workshops and events. Mental Health Month Sausage Sizzle - Friday 10 October

Location: Yass Street Stall, Corner of Meehan & Comur Streets
Time: 11am – 2pm

Pop by the stall for a free BBQ focused on mental health awareness and community connection. Delivered with the NSW Government and the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program.

Household Chemical CleanOut - Sunday 12 October

Location: Yass Transfer Station
Time: 8am – 3pm
Residents can safely dispose of unwanted household chemicals for free.

Murrumbateman Field Days - Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 October

The region’s biggest event returns. The Opening Ceremony begins at 9.30am on Saturday with Government representation, Mayor Jones and the MCA.

Music in the Meadows - Saturday 25 October

Location: Highclere Farm
An afternoon of music, picnics and wine with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. Proudly supported by YVC. Tickets available at cso.org.au.

 

 

Bookmark Design Competition now open!

To celebrate the opening of the new Library, we are asking Library users to design a bookmark. Five winners across different age categories will have their bookmark designs printed for distribution at Yass Valley Library. Each winner also receives a $30 Shop Local gift card. Entries close at Saturday 1 November.

Pools Open for Summer - Monday 3 November

The Yass and Binalong pools open for the season. Season tickets available online from Monday 13 October.

Garage Sale Trail - Weekends of 8-9 & 15-16 NovemberGarage-Sale-Trail-Promo-1.png

Yass Valley takes part in the national Garage Sale Trail across two weekends. Register your sale and find your nearest garage sale at garagesaletrail.com.au.

 

 

Bango Wind Farm Community Enhancement Fund Committee – Apply by 10 November 2025

Help decide where the money goes! Community members are invited to join the committee alongside Squadron Energy and Council representatives. Over $50,000 in grants will be available to support local projects (grant applications open in early 2026).

Rye Park Wind Farm Community Enhancement Fund - Applications close 20 October 2025

Community groups in the Yass Valley are encouraged to apply for support through the Rye Park Wind Farm Community Enhancement Fund, with a total of $55,413.29 available to distribute in 2025. See our Grants Page for details of more local funding opportunities, including Transgrid and nbn. 

Australia Day Nominations – open until 1 December 2025

Nominate individuals or groups making an outstanding contribution to the Yass Valley community for the 2026 Australia Day Awards.

With lively Christmas markets, late night shopping, Santa and the Community Christmas Parade. To register a parade float, market stall or as a performer, complete the application form available online
