The warning system has been developed around a wide range of existing and new hydrometric data including:
- 18 existing rainfall gauges
- 4 new rainfall gauges
- 4 existing stream gauges
- 4 new stream gauges
- BoM radar data
The warning system:
- Is based around the Yass River catchment
- has been calibrated against historical flood events
- provides live actual river heights
- is continually recalibrating based on live data, which is received every 15 minutes
- will be recalibrated based on future events to improve future accuracy
- provides expect inundation mapping for various river heights for Yass township and Gundaroo & Sutton villages based on the existing Flood Risk Management Plans and Studies
