This project will provide the Murrumbateman community with an inclusive all ages, all-abilities playground. This project is necessary as the community is rapidly expanding and does not currently have a functionable large community playground.

The $1,000,000 project is funded from the Investing in our Communities Program, Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Grant (Phase 4) and the Development Contributions Reserve.

Background:

In 2022 the Murrumbateman community received an election commitment from the Federal Government for $750,000 to construct a new all-abilities playground facility within Murrumbateman. This will be delivered through the investing in our Communities Program along with $200,000 from Council developer contributions reserve and $116,000 received under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure grant.

Council engaged Complete Urban to undertake the design works for the playground with the concept design endorsed by Council at its meeting on 22 August 2024.

Project Update:

At its ordinary meeting held on 22 May 2025 Council endorsed 10 Hercules Street, Murrumbateman as the location to construct the all-abilities playground.

Council is now in the process of modifying the playground design to suit the new location. It is anticipated that the tender documentation for construction of the playground will be released in early January 2026.

Council thanks the community for their participation in the community survey and their interest in this project.
