Advisory Committees are up and running!

Yass Valley Council’s Advisory Committees are up and running, providing an opportunity for community members and local experts to have their say and play an active role in Council’s work.

The committees bring together Councillors, Council staff and community members to share knowledge, discuss local issues and provide advice to Council.

How do Advisory Committees work?

All Council Committees are advisory only. They make recommendations to Council but do not have delegated decision-making responsibilities.

Advisory Committees help Council to:

  • Harness the views, knowledge and expertise of the wider community
  • Better understand and respond to specific local issues, initiatives and community assets
  • Provide a structured way for community members to be involved in Council affairs and the democratic process

Current Advisory Committees

Yass Valley Council currently has a number of Advisory Committees, including:

  • Economic Development Advisory Committee
  • First Nations Advisory Committee
  • Yass Pool Redevelopment Advisory Committee
  • And more
