Extraordinary Council Meeting – 14 October 2026

Yass Valley Council will hold an Extraordinary Meeting of Council on Wednesday, 14 October 2026 at the Yass Valley Council Chambers, 209 Comur Street, Yass.  The Public Forum will commence at 4.00pm and the Council Meeting will follow at 5pm.

Councillors will consider a report on Council’s ongoing work to strengthen its long-term financial sustainability and determine a way forward, given a range of options available to support a sustainable financial future for the community.  A Special Rate Variation (SRV) is one option being considered as part of this broader financial sustainability work.

The matter was deferred in November 2025 to allow Council to undertake further work on alternative financial options. Further information was presented in March 2026, with additional analysis and financial modelling undertaken since then.

The October meeting will provide Councillors with an opportunity to consider this work and determine the next steps. Council’s focus is on identifying sustainable financial options that support its ability to continue delivering the services and infrastructure the community needs over the longer term.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting.

More information will be released when available. The Agenda and Council reports will be released on 8 October 2026.

Can't attend in person? The forum will be livestreamed and recorded on Council's YouTube Channel. Click the link below at 4:00PM on Wednesday 14 October 2026  https://www.youtube.com/@yassvalleycouncil130/streams
