Council held an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Monday 11 May 2026 to discuss the draft Yass Valley Council Draft 2026/27 Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) documents and draft Property Strategy & Associated Polices. Draft Property Strategy & Associated Policies:

The Draft Property Strategy takes a holistic assessment of how Councils property portfolio can be managed in a strategic way to provide a sound foundation for financial sustainability into the future.

The Draft Property Strategy addresses how Council ownership of property can deliver better outcomes for the community in terms of economic development, public open spaces, social and community facilities, urban development, rural townships and financial investment.  The Property Strategy is designed to be self-funding through the recycling of property assets and add no ongoing net cost to Council’s budget while meeting these objectives.

Council endorsed the draft Property Strategy and following Policies to be placed on public exhibition for 28 days.

Integrated Planning & Reporting Documents

These documents outline Council’s activities, projects, and initiatives in the short and long term. They include details about budgeting, asset and workforce management, finance, and service delivery.  The IP&R documents cover the services that matter to you - like roads, water, waste, parks and recreation, community services, sporting facilities, planning and development.

Council endorsed the following draft IPR documents to be placed on public exhibition for 28 days:

  • Draft 2026/27 Operational Plan
  • Draft 2026/27 Budget
  • Draft Long Term Financial Plan including Scenario 6.1 – Base Case + Property Strategy
  • Draft Revenue Statement, including proposed fees and charges

Also endorsed for public exhibition is the Draft Financial Concession and Mayoral Discretionary Fund Policy.  This refreshed policy sets out how the community can seek in kind support from Council.  It outlines the allocated budget and the application requirements.
