There was huge excitement across Council as we were able to hold our April Council Meeting in the brand new Crago Mill Council Chambers.

Our new fit-for-purpose facilities with comfortable public viewing gallery, modern technology and studio quality microphones dramatically improve Council’s ability to provide high-quality and efficient council meetings and an enhanced viewing and participation experience for community.

Here is a quick summary of the main topics discussed at this month’s Council’s meeting:

Planning and Environment
  • Bondo Wind Farm EPBC Submission: Council agreed to make a submission under the EPBC process for Neoen’s Bondo Wind Farm about the project’s impact and potential contribution to the cumulative impact of State Significant Renewable Projects in the Yass Valley.
  • Parkwood Development Control Plan 2026: Post exhibition report was adopted noting that many of the issues raised in the submissions – such as flood, fire and protection of the Murrumbidgee River corridor - will be addressed by the neighbourhood structure plans or have previously been addressed by the Planning Proposal process.
  • 394 Gooda Creek Road, Murrumbateman: Council conditionally endorsed the DA for a function centre and serviced apartments, with the inclusion of additional noise abatement measures.
  • 11 Mannifera Drive, Gundaroo: DA was granted for a shed, swim spa, deck and retaining wall.
  • Lot 2, Wallaroo Rd: Planning Proposal was adopted to conserve bio-diversity values of the land and allow for the potential future relocation of an existing TransGrid substation.
