The NSW Seniors Festival is back in Yass Valley for 2026, and Yass Valley Council is excited to offer a vibrant program of free events for local seniors.
Exploring Together in Colour

Running from 2 to 13 March 2026, the festival celebrates connection, creativity and wellbeing through a range of activities including workshops, performances, talks and day trips. The program is proudly funded by the NSW Government as part of the Seniors Festival initiative Exploring Together in Colour.

2 March – Junee Licorice & Chocolate Factory Bus Trip – 9:30am to 4:00pm
Join us for a relaxing day out to the famous Junee Licorice & Chocolate Factory. Bus transport, lunch and tour included.

5 March – Peter Minson Art Glass & Demonstration – 10:30am to 1:00pm
Enjoy a fascinating glassblowing demonstration by local artist Peter Minson, a third-generation glassblower. An opportunity to support local artistry, learn about traditional craft and enjoy morning tea. Transport to Binalong is not included, bookings are essential.

5 March – NSW Healthy Ageing Talk, at the Yass Valley Library – 11:30am to 1:30pm
Join us for an engaging and practical information session on falls prevention, presented by a Health Promotion Officer from Southern NSW Local Health District. Falls are one of the most common causes of injury as we age, but many are preventable. This session will empower older adults, carers, and community members with simple strategies to stay steady, confident, and independent at home and in the community. Bookings are essential.

6 March – Classic Movie Screening at Yass Valley Library – 10:30am
Join your friends at the Yass Valley Library at to celebrate Seniors Week with a legendary classic film featuring the iconic line, “Here’s looking at you kid”!

There are no bookings required for this event.


11 March – Royal Military College Band Performance – 11:00am to 2:00pm
Experience a live concert by the Canberra 30-piece Royal Military College Band performing at the Soldiers Memorial Hall in Yass. Enjoy this impressive musical program in a comfortable indoor venue, followed by lunch. Bookings are essential.

12 March – Acrylic Floral Workshop – 1:30pm to 3:30pm
Have fun at our special Seniors Week acrylic painting workshop to explore new techniques and paint your very own floral masterpiece. Bookings are essential.

13 March – Wee Jasper Distillery Bus Trip – 10:00am to 4:00pm
Visit the Wee Jasper Distillery and experience a guided tour of the distillery, offering insight into the distilling process, followed by lunch. Transport via bus is included, bookings are essential.
