Join us for Yass Valley's Australia Day Ceremony 2026
Come along to Coronation Park, Yass, and support the local community as we announce the winners of the Australia Day Awards and hold our Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.
There will be a complimentary breakfast BBQ provided by Yass Rotary and morning tea provided by the CWA.
Australia Day Awards
The awards recognise outstanding achievement, or an event held, during the past year and/or contribution to the local community.
Awards categories for the 2026 Australia Day awards are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Sportsperson of the Year
- Community Group of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
- Event of the Year

- Date: Monday 26 January, 2026
- Time: BBQ opens at 7.30am; Awards and Citizenship Ceremony from 8.30am - 10am
- Place: Coronation Park, Yass, by the Visitor Information Centre.
Australia Day Ambassadors
Ben and Marina Maguire, Remount
Yass Valley Council is delighted to announce the appointment of local mental health and veteran advocates, Ben Maguire AM and Marina Maguire OAM (pictured right), as the Yass Valley Australia Day Ambassadors for 2026, recognising their outstanding contribution to veterans, first responders and the wider community through their not-for-profit organisation, Remount.
