Planning & Environment

  • Dazzle Dance (Murrumbateman): DA modification approved to allow operation on Sundays and specific 2026 public holidays (10 am – 4 pm).
  • 7 Hanley Place (Yass): Councillors did not support the staff recommendation for Conditional Consent to be granted. As no Motion for Refusal was placed on the table for debate or to be voted on, an Extraordinary Meeting is set for Wednesday, 4 March, for a formal determination to be made.
  • 91 Guise St (Sutton): Endorsed a Planning Proposal for a 193-lot subdivision (5,000m² minimum); to proceed to a NSW Government Gateway Determination.
  • Other Approvals: Modified stage 3 of the Discovery Drive subdivision (includes a new footpath) and endorsed an LEP amendment for 1600 Yass Valley Way.
  • DA Processing: Average assessment times improved to 126 days. 

Infrastructure & Assets

  • Sporting Grounds: Adopted a 15% cost recovery model for user charges, with annual increases capped at 30%.
  • Heat Wave Support: Following successful 'free pool days' Council will review formalising this policy and seeking sponsorship for lifeguard costs.
  • Project Updates: Construction tender accepted for the Murrumbateman All Abilities Playground; Sutton Recreation Ground Strategic Plan adopted with annual reviews; Water Treatment Plant Upgrade.

Community & Corporate

  • Policies Adopted: Hardship & Financial Assistance Policy and Managing Unreasonable Conduct towards YVC and its Employees Policy.
  • Advocacy: Council is lobbying for safety upgrades at the Shingle Hill Way/Federal Hwy intersection and seeking alternate pruning methods for Rossi St street trees with Essential Energy; Council will submit a number of motions for consideration at the ALGA conference in June.
  • Finance Reports: 2025/26 Second Quarter Review Statement, Monthly Financial Report, Investment and Borrowing Report
  • Operational Plan: 2025/2026 Second Quarter Update
  • Telegraph Close, Yass: Council resolved a transfer of ownership of Telegraph Cl to the previous landowner
  • Advisory Committees: Council appointed members onto the Economic and Development and First Nation Advisory Committees. Further invitations will be sent to key stakeholders/organisations to encourage appropriate stakeholder participation on the Access and Age-Friendly and the Sport and Open Space committees.
