We are pleased to report that construction of the new Yass Valley Library and Council Administration Building at the Crago Mill Precinct is nearing completion, with handover currently predicted for February 2026.

The Library is in the final stages of construction and work is now focused on signage, public artwork and connection to sewer services. A small number of internal fittings are being completed in preparation for receiving the library book collection shortly. Furniture and shelving is now being installed, with final cleaning and inspections scheduled for the New Year.

Work within the Administration Building is also advancing – the internal fit-out is well underway and furniture placement has commenced.

Some minor delays to the outside works have occurred following the discovery of some more redundant fuel tanks within the Comur Street road reserve, along with some old Essential Energy service lines, gas pipes and outdated NBN infrastructure, which need decommissioning and removal. This work will continue in the New Year.

With construction hoardings now being removed, residents may notice the temporary construction generator that is suppling power to the site prior to connection to the mains. The generator has now been switched off for the Christmas period and is expected to be back in use for approximately three weeks from 5 January 2026, or until mains power is connected.

With work coming rapidly to an end Yass Valley Council is looking forward to opening the Library and Administration Building to the public in the early autumn - which will provide the much needed modern, accessible facilities that will support our growing local community, businesses, learning and civic services, right here in the centre of Yass.
