The Yass Valley community is invited to celebrate the official opening of the new Crago Mill Precinct at a special Community Open Day on Saturday 9 May.

Come along and be part of this historic moment for Yass Valley, with the official ribbon cutting ceremony marking the opening of the new civic space at 9:30am. Following the ceremony, visitors can enjoy live music, children’s activities in the library and community BBQ while exploring the new facilities.
The silent auction of pre-used furniture will be held in the old Customer Service building from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 9 May (after the official opening of the Crago Mill Precinct) and Saturday 16 May from 9am to 11am. More details about the pre-used furniture sale will be published shortly.

The Crago Mill Precinct brings together Council services, community facilities, a contemporary library and an Emergency Operations Centre in one central location. Positioned at the gateway to Yass, the precinct is set to revitalise the southern entrance to the town and support local business, tourism and community engagement for years to come.
Yass Valley Mayor Jasmin Jones said the formal opening is a proud moment for the region.
“This is a significant moment for Yass Valley. The formal opening activates a precinct that represents the beginning of a new chapter for our CBD, Main Street and local economy.
“The Crago Mill Precinct will become a destination for all ages — a place to connect, learn, work and celebrate. It is a generational investment in our civic, cultural and community infrastructure, and also plays an important role in community safety, with facilities designed to support residents during extreme weather events.”
Chief Executive Officer Gayleen Burley said staff are pleased to be working in the new facilities.
“Council Staff are proud to be operating from this purpose-built space, enabling us to continue delivering high-quality services to our community. These new buildings will support the attraction and retention of skilled staff and reflect the professional, forward-looking organisation we are building.”
Final landscaping and site works will be completed in the coming weeks, with future plans including a Yarning Circle and storytelling artworks developed in partnership with Ngunnawal Elders.
Council looks forward to welcoming the community to explore and celebrate this important milestone for Yass Valley.
