Temporary Safety Measures at Victoria Park

Temporary Safety Measures at Yass Swimming Pool, Yass FM, and Victoria Park.
During recent trenching works at Yass Swimming Pool on Friday, a large conifer tree on the fence line between the Pool area and Victoria Park sustained some root damage. As a precautionary public safety measure, Yass Valley Council has established a temporary safety exclusion zone around the tree.
The zone currently affects parts of the Yass Swimming Pool outdoor area, the Yass FM studios, the oval ring-road and some picnic areas in Victoria Park. Yass FM programming has been temporarily disrupted, and arrangements are being made for remote broadcasting while the exclusion zone remains in place.
Initial work has been conducted by a Cert-III arborist and Yass Valley Council staff to promote self-healing of the tree. Further inspections will be carried out later this week by a Cert-V arborist to fully assess the tree’s stability and recommend any further actions needed. In the meantime, Council staff are monitoring the tree and working closely with Yass FM and Victoria Park users to minimise disruption and ensure the area remains safe.
