Council Code of Conduct

This Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW sets the minimum standards of conduct for council officials.

The Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW (Model Code) and the Procedures for the Administration of the Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW (Model Procedures) are prescribed under the Local Government Act 1993 (the Act) and the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021. Under section 440 of the Act, a council must review its adopted code and supporting procedures and make such adjustments as it considers appropriate that are consistent with requirements under the Model Code and Model Procedures. Such review must be completed within 12 months after each ordinary election of councillors.

At the 24 July 2025 Council Meeting, Council endorses the re-adoption of the 'Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW' and the 'Procedures for Administration of the Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW' with no changes other than incorporation of corporate branding and related formatting adjustments.

The Model Code and Model Procedures have been placed on public exhibition for no less than 28 days. Council does not propose to add to or otherwise amend contents for the purposes of local adoption.
