HumeLink Grants available for Yass Valley
Published on 26 June 2025
Council is encouraging the Yass Valley community to apply for grant funding through Transgrid’s newly launched HumeLink Community Investment and Benefits Program.
As part of Transgrid’s $4.89 billion HumeLink project, Yass Valley is set to receive a share of a $1.8 million grant stream, allocated to the four host councils in the HumeLink East corridor over the next two years.
The HumeLink project is one of the largest energy infrastructure developments in New South Wales, delivering approximately 365 km of new high-voltage transmission lines to connect the Snowy 2.0 hydro project to Wagga Wagga and Bannaby, south of Sydney.
Work is starting to commence in the Yass Valley region, with transmission lines set to pass along Black Range Road, north of the Yass Service Centre, and along the Hume Highway, north of Gunning.
In light of this, Mayor Jasmin Jones said:
“Yass Valley Council welcomes this grant opportunity and is advocating for its evolution into a long-term community benefit scheme for the life of this state-significant infrastructure that Yass Valley is hosting - reflecting Transgrid’s commitment to earning the title of a respected community partner.
“This is a chance for the Yass Valley community to secure funding for impactful and enduring projects - whether focused on building social legacy, strengthening First Nations connection to Country, or enhancing local education, training, and employment.
“Whether your idea supports local businesses, provides essential community facilities, or creates new opportunities, your input is valuable and will help shape future projects that benefit our entire community.
“I encourage you to submit your project ideas, and I look forward to our community working together to bring them to life.”
Grant details:
• Grants of $20,000 and above are available
• This is the only scheduled application round, closing on 27 July 2025
Council encourages the community to get involved and consider how this funding can deliver long-term benefits for Yass Valley now and into the future.
