New Super Titan Pump Powers Up Yass Valley Water Supply
A key upgrade to Yass Valley’s water infrastructure has been completed with the installation of a new Super Titan pump at the raw water pump station. The new pump - designed for high-capacity water movement - will deliver water from Yass Dam to the water treatment plant, supporting a reliable and efficient town water supply for Yass, Murrumbateman, Bowning and Binalong.
After more than 35 years of dedicated service, the original Super Titan pump is being semi-retired. It will now undergo refurbishment and remain on standby as a backup for future use.

“This upgrade is a big step on our journey to improve the water supply system in Yass Valley” said Gayleen Burley, CEO of Yass Valley Council. “The original pump has served the community exceptionally well over the past 35 years, and this replacement is a key part Council’s commitment to upgrade key components of our water supply network. This is part of the broader program to modernise our aging water supply infrastructure and to improve the quality of water for residents in for Yass, Murrumbateman, Bowning and Binalong.”
The upgrade was carried out by Yass Valley Council’s water team with the pump and electrical contractors.
Yass Valley has received over $38 million in funding from the National Water Grid Fund and the NSW Government to upgrade Yass’s water treatment plant and the town’s water reticulation network to improve the quality of drinking water for the Yass community. This project will increase the town water supply capacity, improve water quality, and support additional regional development opportunities across Yass Valley.
Design and development phase of the water treatment plant upgrade is in progress. For more information, please see our webpage about the Yass Water Treatment Plant Upgrade
