Waste & Recycling

rubbish-bin.png

In 2016, Yass Valley Council committed to an 80% reduction in rubbish going to landfill. To meet the challenge of reducing waste generation, the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) prepares a new Waste Avoidance & Resource Recovery (WARR) Strategy every five years. It sets clear directions for a range of priority areas over the seven years and aligns with the NSW Government’s waste reforms.

The WARR Strategy provides a clear framework for waste management to 2021-22 and provides an opportunity for Council to continue to increase recycling across all waste streams.
