Get NSW Active 2023/24 Grant Program

 

Council was successful in receiving $90,500 under the Get NSW Active 2023/24 grant program.

The program is an opportunity for local councils to apply for funding to create safe, easy, and enjoyable walking and cycling trips. The aim is to relieve the pressure that are currently on local roads and public transport networks by encouraging a healthier mode of transport.

$39.5 million in funding for more than 80 walking and cycling projects across NSW was announced by Minister for Transport, Jo Haylen, with a record breaking 523 applications from local regional and metropolitan Councils.

The Yass Valley received funding for a total of ten locations. Pathways are part of the Yass Valley Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (PAMP) program Council announced in 2017.

This work is for design only and applies to the following locations:

  • A shared path on Bowning Road, Bowning (including crossings),
  • A footpath on Leake Street, Bowning (including crossing),
  • Four raised crossings on Rose Street, Middle Street, Camp Street and West Street, Murrumbateman,
  • A shared path on West Street, Murrumbateman (including crossings),
  • A footpath on Laidlaw Street, Yass (including crossings),
  • A footpath on Grampian Street, Yass (including crossings),
  • A footpath on Petit Street, Yass (including crossings),
  • A footpath on Shaw Street, Yass.

     

    Council was also successful in received $37,000 under the Get NSW Active 2023/24 program. This work was again for design only and applies to the following locations:

  • A quietway on Church Street, Yass,
  • A shared path on Montem Street, Bowning.

Upon the completion of the designs, Council will seek other grant opportunities to facilitate construction.
