Council revotes funds for works to continue this financial year
At the conclusion of each financial year, some planned works are delayed or unable to be completed. There are many reasons for this with most beyond the control of Council. It is, therefore, necessary for Council to revote funds in order for the works to be carried out during the next financial year to deliver assets to the community.

Council has commenced the process of identifying key infrastructure priorities to service the Yass Valley’s rapidly growing population. Of these projects, Council has identified the Yass Pool redevelopment, Civic Precinct and Murrumbateman Community Hall as the main priorities for the preparation of ‘shovel ready’ plans.

More drivers to charge regional tourism
Electric vehicle drivers will now be able to stop off in Yass to plug-in and recharge thanks to a new fast charger rolled out to kick-start the Hume Highway charging network and encourage regional travel.

More than $427,000 in damage occurred to roads, parks and infrastructure following flooding across the weekend of 7-9 August, resulting in the declaration of a natural disaster zone for the Yass Valley.

Transport for NSW: Motorists to slow down in Yass Valley
The drive through Yass will be safer from next month with changes to speed limits in Yass Valley local government area.
Transport for NSW Director South West Lindsay Tanner said Transport for NSW carried out a review of speed zones on Gums Lane and Laidlaw Street at Yass to improve safety.

Discharge of partially treated effluent
Icon Water advises that due to the heavy rain over the past three days infiltrating the sewerage system, the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre treatment plant is expected to discharge a small amount of partially treated effluent into the Molonglo River. This is expected to occur within the next hour as the rain continues.
