Major Projects

Project overview

Wellington Road catchment was identified for provision of sewerage services in the current Development Servicing Plan (Sewerage) 2013.

The Sewage Pump Station (SPS) is required to service up to 400 new residential lots. Due to design requirements, the pump station will be constructed in stages to service 200 lots initially. To service the ultimate 400 lots, additional pump and switch board upgrades will be necessary in the future.

Key Project Dates

Construction works are expected to take up to 46 weeks due to difficult terrain. Works are expected to begin in the area from Monday, 4 January 2020. Works will be along the top of Meehan Street and down towards Yass town.

October 2021
The original construction program indicated completion of the project in early July 2021. However the program has slipped due to the combined effects of extended wet weather and Covid 19. Commissioning is now forecast to take place in early December 2021.

February 2021
Construction works on the Wellington Road SPS commenced in late January 2021 and excavation at the pump station site is now well advanced.

Construction of the twin sewer rising mains and gravity sewer along Meehan Street is scheduled to commence on 24 February 2021. Council has chosen less intrusive directional drilling technology in preference to the more traditional cut and cover construction method.

Based on the current construction program and favourable weather conditions the project is scheduled to be completed by early July 2021, two months ahead of the September 2021 target completion date.
