Nanima Road Rehabilitation

Project overview

Nanima Road has been identified for rehabilitation works due to the high volume of heavy vehicles and the high volume of traffic that use the road on a daily basis.

The road currently has a 10 tonne road limit in place which will be removed once rehabilitation works have been completed.

More information on the exact nature of the rehabilitation works will be provided once preliminary studies have been completed.

Project updates & community information

September 2021
Stage 1 has now been completely sealed, there is still guide post installation and the remainder of the line marking to go. It is expected to be all wrapped up within a week or two. We thank you for your patience with this work.

Hewatt’s Civil who are undertaking Stage 2 have been held up on their previous job due to the inclement weather and covid restrictions – works will be commencing on this part of the project in the next couple of weeks and will begin with tree clearing/trimming. We hope to have this completed by the end of November 2021.

August 2021 - Stage Two
Hewatt’s Civil will be commencing on site the second week of August 2021. Works will begin with tree clearing/trimming.

We understand there will be more than one set of traffic control in place however this has been unavoidable with the wet weather holding up the completion of Divall’s Stage 1 works and every effort will be made to keep delays as short as possible.

July 2021
The rehabilitation of Nanima Road Stage 1 is nearing completion. Divall’s have continued to make good progress over the last month despite all the wet weather.
This month has seen some more shoulder widening and pavement placed on the last section of road. Once the pavement has been completed the last of the sealing and line marking will be undertaken. The current completion date for the project is now mid-July 2021 due to the wet weather delays (weather permitting). We are hopeful in meeting this timeframe and are excited to see Stage 1 of Nanima Road completed.

The Stage 2 works have now also been awarded – Hewitt Civil will be undertaking these works, at this stage commencing August 21 (weather dependent). These works will include tree trimming/removal, culvert and drainage works as well as shoulder widening.

June 2021
We have currently completed 2.7km of the road reconstruction including linemarking. Over the next couple of weeks Divall’s will be placing some more pavement base material, undertaking another portion of sealing and completing the last of the widening works on the final 1km stretch. After this we will be of course sealing and linemarking the last of this 5km rehabilitation.

The current completion date for the project is July 7, 2021, weather permitting.

April 2021
There are plans to undertake more sealing works this week which should have the total sealed area at around 2kms. Works are also underway to continue the widening and stabilisation of the next 1 km prior to sealing.

Shoulder work, tree removal and culvert widening will also be commencing for the last 600m of the work zone in the coming weeks. There are no habitat trees to be removed and Divall’s have had an ecologist onsite. Once this is completed the removed trees will be mulched and taken away.

The current completion date for the project is July 2, 2021 all things going to plan.

April 2021

The works on Nanima Road are progressing well and are reasonably well on schedule considering the wet weather.

Divall’s have continued to work hard and have sealed the first section of the project – this area still requires line marking and guardrails which will be completed in the coming weeks.

The team have been preparing the next section of road approximately 800m, to be sealed which should be completed by mid-next week. There is also shoulder widening and pavement works occurring further down towards the Barton Highway end of the road.

All things going well, stage 1 of the project should be finalised by June 2021.

March 2021

The works on Nanima Road are progressing well and are on schedule!

Divall’s has been working hard constructing the subbase layers of the road pavement and is preparing to seal the first kilometre of road next week. The team has also been undertaking culvert extensions and other drainage works. We expect all things going well, stage 1 of the project should be finalised by June 2021.

January 2021
Divall’s has completed the tree clearing and grubbing for this part of the project. Works have now commenced on rehabilitating the road pavement. Divall’s will be working on 1km of road at a time to keep the site manageable, safe and keep traffic delays to a minimum.

The rehabilitation work will include shoulder widening, construction of the new pavement, sealing and undertaking culvert extensions where required – as mentioned this work will be limited to a 1km zone at all times.

The works, at this point are on track to be completed by the end of June 2021.

December 2020
Divall’s are planning to commence preliminary works onsite from Monday December 14th – this will predominately include clearing and grubbing of the roadside, in preparation for the pavement works.

The main works will commence in the new year with the team expected to be back on site by January 4th, 2021.

December 2020
The request for tender for Stage 1 has been awarded to Divall’s, a well-known construction company from Goulburn. Council met with the team yesterday and it is anticipated preliminary works onsite will commence prior to the Christmas break. These initial works will include the set-up of the site compound as well as some clearing and grubbing works along the sides of the road.

The main works will commence in the new year with the team expected to be back on site by 4 January 2021. These stage 1 works will be undertaken near the Barton Highway intersection and conclude approximately 5kms along Nanima Road. The works will include road widening, road rehabilitation, culvert works, tree trimming and line marking.
