Built in 1978 the existing facilities at Victoria Park have served the community well for 40 years but time has come for a much needed renovation.
Stage one of the renovations will include knocking down the separate canteen ‘shed’, with the existing building being extended to include a new meeting room, storage room, disabled toilet and canteen. Work is anticipated to be finished by May 2018.
“Victoria Park is widely used by our sporting community, as well as our schools, and it is fantastic to see this much needed refurbishments underway,” said Yass Valley Mayor, Rowena Abbey. “Thank you to all our users groups for their participation and involvement in this process.”
“The improvements to the Victoria Park amenities are long overdue and will have a positive impact financially to the Rams Rugby Club and the wider sporting community,” said Club President, Peter Davies. “The club looks forward to the new extension and further upgrades to the amenities in the near future.”
During this renovation the facility will be unavailable for use by the public. Signs have been placed on the temporary fencing directing residents and visitors to use the facilities at Riverbank Park during the refurbishment period.
Stage two of the upgrades will see both the change rooms and public toilets undergo refurbishment. Grant opportunities for stage two are currently being reviewed, with project dates not yet determined by Council.
