Walker Park

Walker Park is home to a number of sporting clubs in Yass, including the Yass Magpies Rugby League Club, Yass Minor Rugby LeagueYass Football Club and Yass Touch Football Association. Junior and senior teams utilise the six playing fields for all home games. Walker Park also hosts the popular Yass Touch Knockout in January each year with teams travelling from all over the country to compete. Facilities include two amenities buildings with canteens, change rooms, toilets and showers, referee rooms and floodlighting.

Yass Valley Council adopted the Walker Park Strategic Plan in March 2018, following an extended period of consultation with the community and local sporting clubs. The final Walker Park Strategic Plan, which highlights the need for significant upgrades to one of Yass’s most heavily used sporting facilities, has taken into consideration comments raised in submissions received from the community while the draft was on public exhibition between December 2017 and January 2018. The document outlines a proposed priority program for development of the site as a regional sporting facility. It will enable Council to meet the needs of user groups and provide a basis for future grant funding applications.
