BASIX Alterations and Additions - Published: 03 Oct 2006
BASIX Alterations and Additions is a NSW Government initiative that will require household renovations to include cost-effective and practical measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and potable water consumption, and improve thermal comfort.

CHANGES TO BASIX - Published: 11 Aug 2005
If you are building a new home, you require a BASIX Certificate to submit with your development application. BASIX is a new planning tool that affects everyone building a new home. By applying practical measures to the design of a new home, BASIX ensures there is the potential to save both water and energy saving you money on your bills and protecting the environment.

From 1 July 2005 a BASIX certificate must accompany any application for: New single dwellings and dual occupancy; and New boarding houses, guest houses, hostels, lodging-houses and backpacker accommodation under 300m2.

From 1 October 2005 a BASIX certificate must also accompany any application for: New multi-unit residential developments (villas, townhouses and low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise).
