Yass Valley Council Youth Centre

YASS VALLEY YOUTH CENTRE MISSION

The Yass Valley Youth Centre aims to promote the spirit and vision of all young people and address youth priorities by working in partnership with 11 - 17 year olds in the Yass Valley and their community. By working in partnership with the community and young people, we will provide a safe, supervised, inclusive Youth Centre that includes opportunities for all young people to socialise, recreate and gain equitable access to youth information, resources and services.  We believe that young people have much to offer and we respect their individuality and diversity.

YASS VALLEY YOUTH CENTRE OBJECTIVES

• To promote a positive image and respect for young people and their ideas
• To provide opportunities for young people to have a voice and participate in their community
• To increase access to recreational opportunities for young people
• To increase community involvement and support for the project
• To advocate on behalf of young people for equitable access to youth information, resources, and services
• To facilitate the sustainability of the project through life skill development of young people, and funding support from community sponsorship and grant bodies.

YASS VALLEY YOUTH CENTRE AIMS

• Provide access affordable, interesting and challenging recreational activities for youth in Yass Valley
• Provide access to resources to meet young people's needs for information and support
• Involve young people in the community, foster the development of new skills, create new experiences and meet new people including adult members of the community
• Encourage young people to be involved in social action
• Provide access to information and support to enable young people to make informed choices about issues which impact on their lives
• Involve young people in planning, delivering and evaluating programs
